The InternationalForum on AI Use in Healthcare Settings was held on October 1, 2026,at Taipei Medical University’s Shuang Ho Campus, bringing together experts and researchers to explore the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and public health. The forum was organized around the theme “AdvancingPublic Health Education and Practice with AI Innovation.”

The event featured an engaging programmer ofpresentations and discussions addressing different dimensions of AI inhealthcare. Topics included AI-driven innovation in hospital care, the transformation of public health education in the AI era, physician perspectives on AI awareness and adoption, patient experiences with AI, and approaches to patient consent.
The forum alsohighlighted ongoing research conducted through the University AcademicAlliance in Taiwan (UAAT) initiative. Presentations explored bothquantitative findings from physician questionnaires examining AI awareness, attitudes, and adoption, and qualitative research examining patients’ perspectives and experiences with AI in healthcare.
Our Global Health and Health Security Programwas represented at the forum through Professor Feng-Jen Tsai (Jean), Director and Professor of the Program, and Professor Mattia Sanna, an Associate Professor of the Program who served as the forum’s moderator and speaker respectively.

The event also featured Yen-Chi Le, PhD, Founding Director of the UT Physicians Center for Population Health Management & Quality, who shared insights on patient perspectives and consent for AI in healthcare, including a Taiwan–U.S. comparison. patients, educators, and policymakers. It also underscored the importance of continued collaboration and research in shaping AI-enabled healthcare systems that are innovative, responsible, and responsive to public health needs.
