• IMPORTANT information about graduation defense

    Before Your Graduation Defense

    The application of graduation defense

    Time of application: 9 am. Feb. 20th to 5 pm. Mar. 17th 2023

    1. Students who apply for the degree examinations must meet the requirement of “TMU Implementation Guidelines of Master and Ph.D. Degree Examination” Article II and “Notes for Course Selection and Registration” Article lll: students must complete required subjects, credits and “Research Ethics” course before applying for a degree examination. And must select "Thesis"/"Dissertation" course this semester.

    2. Before applying, please read the study regulation of respect department/program & information of graduation defense orientation. Student must prepare the evidence of completed requirements and upload the evidence on the system function of “Credit Progress” →”Requirements for Graduation(Student Form)”.

    3. Students shall upload the “Originality Report of Plagiarism Detection” according to the requirement of department/program and thesis advisor. Students must provide originality reports of plagiarism detection to committee members on the day of graduation defense. Students who did not provide the report cannot hold the defense. For the detection tool please use “Turnitin”.

     

    • If you have difficulties of passing the graudation requirements and you still would like to apply for graduation defense, please find the affidavit and discuss with your advisor.

    • Important notes about the affidavit:

    1. Please upload your current process of your graduation defense and the affidavit on the academic system before 5 pm. Mar. 17th 2023.

    2. Please re-submit the graduation requirements before May 15th 2023.

    3. If the applicant fails to do so, please abdicate the entitlement for Oral Thesis Defense(OTD) without dissent

  • After Your Graduation Defense

    Stage 1

    After your graduation defense, please discuss with your advisor and correct your thesis according to the advise of the committee member.

    Stage 2

    After your advisor's approval of the content of your thesis, please hand in the documents below to me:

    A. Thesis

    B. TMU Graduate Thesis Certification-original hardcopy

    C. *Application for Embargo of Thesis-original hardcopy+copy+ evidence

    D. Original Confidentiality Agreement & Sign-in Formoriginal hardcopy

    E. Evaluation Sheet-original hardcopy

    F. Final Version Thesis-Originality Report of PlagiarismDetection-complete electronic version(with thesis content and advisor signature)

    G. Final Version Thesis-Originality Report of PlagiarismDetection-cover page+ final percentage page(with advisor signature)

    Stage 3

    After I check the documents are all correct, please upload the electronic files to the “TMU Electronic Dissertation Service System” which would be review by the library.

    After the library finish your review, they would send an email to you if you pass. Please hand in the documents below to me after then:

    1.Bound thesis in softcover

    Stage 5

    After you hand in the document to the program office, the program office would hand in to the academic affairs. The program office would inform you whether your thesis is passed after the academic affairs review.

    Stage 6

    Once you pass the final review of academic affairs, you can start the procedure of leaving TMU.
